Taken at the "Baby Graves," a tiny cemetery located miles in the middle of nowhere off of a gravel road in southeastern Washington state (just outside Benton City). It apparently made the list of 'haunted places in Washington state' and consists mostly of infants who died in the late 1800's due to a flu epidemic that killed hundreds of children. There have been numerous stories of 'weird' experiences out there, and some people even claim to have seen ghosts at night. I don't know how true the stories are, but I can definitely say that it was extremely creepy, even in the middle of the day.
It appears as though 3 children were buried here, all under a year old. Pretty sad... Comments
Certainly a place laden with tragedy.
After seeing your photo, I did a quick search on the cemetery and found an article which also discusses this same girl. Apparently her family also lost twins only a week after Norma's death. Pretty unimaginable having to go through something like that. There were also stories of an old man in a shack wielding anything from a baseball bat to a shotgun in order to deter intruders. That sounds like urban legend to me though. It's interesting what cemeteries can do to people's heads when in many ways they're one of the most tranquil places you'll find. Great photo. Have you considered converting it to black-and-white? Oh, wow.. I didn't know that about the twins - thanks so much for commenting. Most of the stories I've found on the people here have been pretty tragic. I think one lady got kicked by her cow while she was pregnant and died a few days later. Sad...
I read about the man in a shack but I'm pretty sure that is an urban legend. If not, the shack was pretty far away and we managed to get in and out without any weird experiences. Maybe he didn't see us. I just posted a second version in black and white: [link] Thanks so much for the comment - it's much appreciated. Featured here: [link] ^_^
